TRISH AVERY
Assistant Executive Director, Screen Actors Guild (Dallas-Ft. Worth and Houston)

Trish Avery has been in the entertainment business for over 25 years and currently serves as SAG Assistant Executive Director for Texas.    She began her career as an actor and traveled in live performances throughout the southwest before becoming a popular commercial actor for Fortune 500 clients. 

Ms. Avery became the President of DFW AFTRA/SAG in 1992 representing Texas professional actors in the national board rooms of both SAG and AFTRA.  In 2003, she served as Manager of Broadcast and Strategic Alliances for eWomenNetwork and Creative Director of eWomenPublishingNetwork and discovered the unique challenges of small businesses and changing markets.  Ms. Avery joined the staff of Screen Actors Guild in 2007 and currently serves a growing SAG membership in Texas of over 2500.

Committed to building a better future for all entertainment professionals between the coasts, Ms. Avery is active in the community as a member of SWAMP,  WIFT-Houston, Dallas Producers Association, Women in Film Dallas and the Texas Motion Picture Alliance.

 

JIM BARHAM
Documentary Filmmaker -
For the Sake of the Song: The Story of Anderson Fair

barhamHouston based filmmaker, Jim Barham, has been a prominent member of the Texas film and television production community for nearly three decades. His work encompasses commercials, music videos, documentaries and independent features. He is currently producing and directing photography on the SWAMP sponsored Texas music documentary, For The Sake Of The Song: The Story of Anderson Fair, funded by The Houston Endowment, The Cultural Arts Council of Houston/Harris County (Houston Arts Alliance) and many generous individuals. Jim has conducted numerous workshops, seminars and lectures on such subjects as budgeting, pre-production, lighting, and acting for the camera for various institutions and organizations including The University of Houston, Texas A&M University, Sam Houston State University, The Motion Picture Council of Houston, Mercury Studio for Film Actors, and the International Television Association.


ADRIENNE RANDALL BOND

Adrienne Randle Bond has 25 years of legal experience.  She specializes in corporate, partnership and securities law, oil and gas transactions and mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Bond is a magna cum laude graduate of Rice University and graduated Columbia University Law School (JD, 1980) as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. She is a frequent author and lecturer on corporate and securities law issues, has served as Adjunct Professor of Corporate Law at the University of Houston Law Center and Co-Chair of the Planning Committee for the 29th Annual Conference on Securities Regulation and Business Law. Ms. Bond is a past President of the Women's Finance Exchange and has been a member of the State Bar of Texas Corporation Law, Continuing Education and Venture Capital Committees. She speaks Spanish, French, and Portuguese. She is married and has one daughter.  In her leisure time, she enjoys wildlife photography and her dogs.

Musician, Music Supervisor

Barry Coffing, founder of Uprising Entertainment & Music Supervisor.com, is a versatile producer, songwriter, composer, singer and film/TV music professional. His songs have charted around the world, and include the #1 hit “How Do You Talk to an Angel.” Artists recording his songs include: Randy Travis, Michael McDonald, Cyndi Lauper, Tiffany, The Neville Brothers, Randy Crawford and Jamie Walters, among others. Barry has produced tracks for Lee Greenwood, Michael McDonald, Thelma Houston, Tiffany, Irene Cara, Gary Pucket and Peabo Bryson and many more.

His Company Musicsupervisor.com Inc. has preferred vender status with Disney, ABC, Paramount TV and CBS. Barry has lectured on the music business at USC, Vanderbilt  and The University of Houston.

FRANK EAKIN
Writer, Producer Bracelet of Bordeaux

Frank Eakin wrote and produced "The Bracelet of Bordeaux," which was recently released in about 100 theatres, and on DVD and Book-DVD at all of the major
video chains.  A member of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Hall of Fame, Frank is president of Eakin Films, which produces feature films for the youth market.  He developed a unique business model called the Community Model of Filmmaking, which brings together kids, parents and community volunteers in combination with seasoned filmmakers, to create quality family films.  Eakin Films is also pioneering new 
marketing channels for independent films, including the first-ever Book-Movie (DVD) combo.  Bracelet premiered as a 2007 Official Selection of the American Film Institute International Film Festival (AFI-Dallas), and has played at other prestigious festivals
in the U.S. and Europe.

LINDA OLSZEWSKI
Co-Head of Global Acquisitions, Development, Podcasts for Shorts International


Linda “O.” Olszewski joined SHORTS INTERNATIONAL in January 2006 to spearhead acquisitions of Academy live-action and animation short film nominees for distribution on iTunes, and to coordinate their theatrical and DVD release with Magnolia Pictures as well as their international television presence with various global TV partners.

As co-head of global acquisitions, she acquires and leads SHORTS on iTUNES USA, UK & Canada, and acquires films for SHORTS TV, BT-VISION, JOOST & global television, new media and airline clients. Linda has contributed to Sharon Badal’s “Swimming Upstream: A Lifesaving Guide to Short Film” (Focal Press). She can be found at international festivals scouting for cinematic gems in all genres, producing video podcasts for SHORTS TV, and serving on juries and panels. She holds an MA in film. Her credits include co-founder/director of the DreamWorks Short Film Festival; member of Hanna-Barbera’s development team for WHAT A CARTOON!; worldwide acquisitions director for EVEO; head of shorts for THE HATCHERY; senior programmer for the Palm Springs Short Film Festival; and world cinema screener for the Sundance Film Festival. Her editing and associate producing credits for feature films include SHREK, THE ROAD TO EL DORADO, PRINCE OF EGYPT, REALITY BITES, and THE LIFE OF DAVID GALE. She has worked as a documentary cameraman in Afghanistan and Huehuetla, Mexico; has written a screenplay, UNTIL THE DAY’S END; and is a photographer for the World Peace Project.

ERIN ROGERS
Staff Attorney, Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts

Erin Rodgers is currently the staff attorney for TALA, and also works with the Law Office of Al Staehely. Erin earned her law degree from the University of Houston, after obtaining a bachelor's degree in music business from Loyola University New Orleans. Aside from being a lawyer, Erin is also a classically trained musician.

AL STAEHELY
Entertainment Attorney

Al Staehely is an entertainment lawyer based in Houston, Texas. He has specialized in legal matters pertaining to the music and film industries since 1979. His clients include musicians, record labels, music publishing companies, and distribution companies. He handles various matters related to recording, publishing, sub-publishing, and licensing both domestically and internationally.

Staehely has represented film production companies, optioned life-story rights, and cleared music rights for films including the Academy Award-nominated documentary For All Mankind. He also represents clients with respect to litigation in all matters related to the entertainment business, including copyright and trademark issues.

In addition to his practice, Staehely has taught music publishing and music business law at both the Art Institute of Houston and St. Thomas University, also in Houston. He has also served as adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center, teaching Entertainment Law.

Staehely attends MIDEM, the international music industry convention in Cannes, France, each year.

vaughan TOM VAUGHAN
Producer/ Screenwriter


Tom Vaughan studied at the University of Houston with Broadway legend Jose Quintero and three-time Pulitzer Prize winner Edward Albee. He began his professional career as the Artistic Director of the short lived but critically acclaimed West-Mon Repertory Theatre in Houston. It was his work there as a writer and director that got him recognized by Hollywood. 

He was soon writing screenplays for, among others, Phoenix Pictures, Spelling Films, Rysher Entertainment, TNT, MTV Films, Castle Rock Entertainment and Warner Brothers. Most recently he wrote THE ORIGINAL, a suspense thriller for Disney/Touchstone.


His productions include BLACKOUT with Jane Seymour for CBS, and CRITICAL ASSEMBLY for NBC. He served as writer as well as Co-Producer on ATOMIC TWISTER with Sharon Lawrence and DEAD IN A HEARTBEAT with Penelope Anne Miller and Judge Reinhold, both for TBS. His feature film debut was UNSTOPPABLE, starring Wesley Snipes.   His script, BRONWYN & CLYDE, which he co-wrote with Kris Dobkin, was recently set-up at Essential Entertainment. UV Pictures, his partnership with Chris Uettwiller, is producting with Dolly Hall. It is targeted for $30 million production next year. Tom is fighting hard to have it filmed in Houston.

Since returning to Houston he has dedicated himself to small organizations aimed at expanding Houston’s theatre and film community.

He has been teaching screenwriting for five years and finds it as gratifying as actually practicing it.
