Actress Margie Beegle in attendance!
Set in Austin, this indie comedy from helmer Bob Byington has played all over the world and now makes a tour of Texas. Musician Justin Rice (Mutual Appreciation, lead singer of Bishop Allen) stars as the motor-mouthed Harmony; Kevin Corrigan (Pineapple Express) is his sidekick; and SWAMP Board Member Margie Beegle (pictured below) makes a memorable screen debut as Harmony’s mother. (Ebert LOVES her! You will, too!)
Byington’s “Harmony and Me” presents a heartfelt portrait of a bright guy and the unsympathetic buddies forced to deal with their friend’s heartache. Dry wit and deadpan humor abound as aptly named lyricist Harmony (Rice) insists on wallowing in misery eons after being unceremoniously dumped by his girlfriend, the lovely Jessica (Kristen Tucker). Even though the members of Harmony’s family are long over his antics, that doesn’t stop him from trying to milk his heartbreak and telling his tale of woe to anyone who will listen. In a series of loosely improvised and very funny episodes, Harmony riffs on life and love with his friends, colleagues, and family, while fighting to win back his girl.
