The SWAMP camp taught me the true process of filmmaking: cooperation, proper planning, and delegation. I had a incredible time learning how to use the professional equipment and collaborating with the other campers (so much that I signed up for three more SWAMP camps). As a current sophomore at Rice University studying film and linguistics, I can safely say that the summer camp program gave the the skill set and knowledge to create a film from start to finish, a process through which I hope to build a career.

The SWAMP Teen Camp was my first real moviemaking experience and not just my friends and I fooling round in front of a camera. We wrote a movie script, shot it, and edited it in one week, which in itself is a major accomplishment for beginners like me. Everyone also had a chance to be the director or the cameraman or the editor, which opened up opportunities to influence the end product in their own way. I still use what I learned at camp in my films.
