Film Cares! Fundraiser for Injured Filmmakers

Southwest Alternate Media Project (SWAMP) is pleased to announce its support of a special fundraiser FILM CARES to benefit Kent Ohler, Michael Darling and Danny Regalado, crew members who were injured by a drunk driver on the set of the feature film HELEN ALONE on October 26, 2012.

The event was a HUGE success!  $13,200 raised!  Contributions are still welcome (see below)!

A crowd-funding campaign is being set up online of leftover auction items.  Donations through fiscal sponsor SWAMP are tax-deductible.

Ohler, Darling and Regalado each sustained multiple injuries from the accident and will be out of work for several months as they take the needed time for rehabilitation and recuperation. “Film Cares” aims to raise $17,500 to assist with living expenses and other bills. Any monies raised that exceed this goal will be donated into a dedicated Film Cares Fund designed to help future filmmakers dealing with unexpected medical issues.

“These guys are a big part of our film family and

we want to do whatever we can to help them

get back on their feet.  This fundraiser is the community’s

way of supporting our own and making sure this

kind of thing doesn’t happen again.

Michelle Mower, Founder of FILM CARES
