Producer-writer-director-publisher R.D. Walker is an entrepreneur who studied economics and journalism in college, and shortly thereafter, launched Houston City magazine. He subsequently ventured into advertising and began making television commercials. In the early '90s, he produced a golf show pilot and sold it to the Fox Sports network. In 1996, he started Indie Slate magazine so that independent content makers could discover and collaborate with like-minded individuals wherever they lived. Begun as a 10-page newsletter, the bi-monthly print publication evolved into a magazine sold on three continents. Walker and Indie Slate co-publisher Maureen Herzog, co-created Indie U, a series of top-quality weekend classes on the craft and business of production and distribution. Walker has produced three feature films and more than 120 digital shorts, and consulted with feature filmmakers across North America.
