Saturday, September 26 10 am - 1 pm
How does a movie go from "I have an idea" to an actual screenplay? In this hands-on three-hour workshop, students become a writers' room and build a short film together from scratch.
Led by filmmaker, screenwriter, and educator Randee Ramsey, students will pitch ideas, create characters, build conflict and stakes, and work together to break the story scene by scene. Along the way, they'll learn the fundamentals of story structure, character development, visual storytelling, dialogue, scene construction, and screenplay formatting.
Once the story is broken, we'll put it on the page, write scenes together, and hear the work out loud in a table read.
Students leave with a better understanding of both how stories are built and how screenplays are written—plus tools they can use to start writing their own.
No experience required. Just bring your ideas and be ready to build a story together.
